We’ll Help Protect Your Investment
Exposed, unfinished, or damaged wood on your log structure can cause major problems. From termites and other destructive insects to extreme weather conditions bringing on log rot, mold, cracked finishes or stains, or sunburned logs, fully taking care of the areas of concern around your log cabin is always our main priority. Problems and issues like log rot can be very expensive to fix if not addressed quickly, so yearly professional maintenance on your home is recommended to avoid any unwanted “surprises” down the road.
Our team of log masters, journeymen, and apprentices will employ their expertise to restore the true beauty of your log home or wood-sided structures and will take the steps necessary to protect it from deterioration. As a full-service restoration company, we offer a variety of services from chemical stripping, media blasting, staining, pressure washing, and much more.
Risk-Free Yearly Maintenance Plans
The Log Masters Restorations yearly maintenance plans are a valuable tool for making sure that your log cabin investment stays protected and maintained to the highest standards. With this plan, we will schedule a time to come to your home annually to do a light wash and complete visual inspection. And the best part? You’ll only pay once a year once the work is completed.
Practicing yearly preventative maintenance will extend the life of your logs and stain and keep your home looking great. Not to mention, consistently keeping your log property in top condition saves you a lot of money and repairs in the future. If you’re interested in starting on a yearly maintenance plan or if you’re looking to get your home assessed for the first time, call us today for a fast, no-hassle estimate today.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long will my home's restoration process take from start to finish?
Since every log home will have different needs, the time to completion for your restoration will likely vary from other restoration projects. Our typical restoration processes can last anywhere from one to four weeks, but the total length for this process will depend on factors such as:
- The size of the home
- How many logs must be removed and replaced if log rot is present
- Environmental or locational conditions such as:
— Cabins that sit over lakes or rivers
— Cabins that are close to other cabins, homes, or conservation areas
— Cabins that are deep in forests or mountains
— Cabins where it is difficult to traverse heavy equipment or our trucks and trailers to the home - What type of stain (oil-based or water-based), if any, was previously used on the home
- How much additional work your home needs (sanding, washing, chinking repair, etc.) to be fully protected
As a benchmark, a typical restoration on a 1500 – 2000 sq. ft. log home or cabin can be expected to take one to two weeks. If your home is larger, the completion time will go up accordingly. Similarly, if your home requires moderate to severe log rot replacement as well as a full restoration, the entire process could take anywhere from two to four weeks.
If your home is painted, it will most likely require a chemical stripping solution to remove the existing paint before we can begin our restoration process. After chemically stripping a log home, it will need to be sanded, as chemical stripping will make the logs fuzzy and rough. A full restoration requiring this type of involved process can also be expected to take two to four weeks.
My log home needs media blasting or sanding, will the inside of my house get dusty?
This is a question we hear a lot. When we perform media blasting on a log home, we are using fine “media” (typically the Tru Abrasives brand mixture of silica-free, medium-grit, crushed glass beads) along with compressed air against the walls of your home to remove existing stain and to get your home back down to bare wood. Even if your home is sealed ( also known as “caulked” or “chinked”) inside and out, dust can still find its way in, especially around doors and windows.
It is difficult to keep all of the dust out during the media blasting or sanding process but if needed, we are more than willing to take additional precautions. Prior to media blasting, we will evaluate your home, and if necessary, we will hang plastic against the inside walls of the home so that any dust coming in between the logs does not enter the entire home. Additionally, our media of choice uses environmentally friendly materials and is safer for both you and our employees during the blasting process.
