Log Home Maintenance & Restoration Services
New construction or an existing home, we have you covered. Here are the services we offer and a little about our full restoration process.
The Log Master Process
At Log Masters Restorations, our goal is to fully restore, protect, and maintain your log home or structure so that you and your loved ones can enjoy it for years to come. Our company strives to use only the best water-based or oil-based products from the best maintenance and restoration product manufacturers in the industry.
Prepping
Upon arrival, we will mask off using tarps and plastic on any painted surfaces, gutters, windows and areas that could be damaged by the stripping process. After all areas are properly protected, we remove the old finish by using media blasting or chemical stripping techniques depending upon the degree and condition of the existing finish.
If during this step rotted logs are discovered and need to be replaced or repaired, we will remove any rotted logs, replacing them with brand new partial or full logs. In some cases, we will detail sand your entire log home to prepare for the finest finish possible.
Restoration
If your home needs any energy sealant (for tight log gap areas), we will apply it between all logs, wood joints, and large cracks to prevent future water damage and cold drafts.
If a water-based stain is used, we will apply a heavy coat of prelude primer to all wood surfaces which will seal in the borate treatment. After a coat of stain (color of your choice) is applied to the logs, a clear top coat is applied to protect your logs and stain from the elements.
If an oil based stain is to be used, we will usually apply two to three heavy coats to guarantee protection.
If chinking is a desired style, or necessary for wider log gaps, we will then chink in between all log joints to ensure that your log home is sealed from any weather conditions.
Clean Up
After the stripping process, we will use a log home wash product to remove any dust or debris left behind from the removal and sanding process to leave your logs clean and smooth like new. Once your log home is clean, we apply a 10% Borate treatment over the entire structure to assure your home is protected from termites and other wood destructive insects and fungus.
Log Masters Restorations always does a thorough clean up of your job site including cleaning all windows, down spouts, gutters, and removing all work debris. Not all log homes are the same, so this process may be different in some cases.
Learn About Our Services
Chinking
Chinking is a sealant that looks great on large round or beam-style log homes and can be added to caulking to create a tighter seal.
Caulking
Caulking seals the gaps in your log home joinery and is commonly used for homes with smaller logs or around windows and doors.
Log Repair + Replacement
Don’t ignore log rot! Our crews are trained to hunt down problem areas, cut them out, replace them with new logs, and seal them tight.
Chemical Stripping
Our finish remover reaches into wood pores to release paint or other film-building products, which are then washed off to expose natural wood.
Media Blasting
Log Masters Restorations uses a high-pressure media blaster that shoots recycled glass through a hose to remove paint and wood stains.
Sanding + Grinding
Sanding is necessary after chemical stripping and might be needed after media blasting or pressure washing to remove any problem areas.
Pressure Washing + Cleaning
